Brazilian distance runner Núbia de Oliveira has been announced as the newest sponsored athlete for eyewear brand Baixa Pace. At 24 years old, she is experiencing a career peak after breaking a 35-year-old Brazilian half marathon record in Buenos Aires and securing a podium finish at São Silvestre.
Running eyewear brand Baixa Pace has announced Brazilian distance runner Núbia de Oliveira as its newest sponsored athlete. At 24 years old, the athlete is in the most prominent moment of her career, cementing her status among the top names in Brazilian long-distance running.
Núbia's major recent breakthrough took place at the Buenos Aires Half Marathon in August. She crossed the finish line with a time of 1h11min13s, breaking by two seconds a historic Brazilian national record that had stood for 35 years. In addition to that continental milestone, the distance runner took third place at the 2024 São Silvestre International Road Race and continues to collect titles and national team selections.
With consistent half marathon times and backing from brands such as ASICS, Núbia's performances are fueling excitement around her future transition to the marathon. Technical projections suggest her pace across 21 km puts her in position to eventually challenge the Brazilian 42 km national record held by Adriana Aparecida da Silva (2h29min), echoing the impact her compatriot Fábio Jesus achieved upon his debut at the classic distance.
