ASICS Launches Bloom Stride, Designed for Women's Feet
The exclusive shoe was developed using 2 million anatomical foot scans and insights from the Move Her Mind initiative.
ASICS has globally launched the Bloom Stride, a running shoe engineered exclusively for female anatomy. Developed from over 2 million foot scans, the shoe features a roomier toe box and secure midfoot support.
Historically, most women's running shoes followed the formula of simply scaling down men's lasts. To break away from this approach, ASICS has launched the Bloom Stride, a running shoe engineered from the ground up to address the unique anatomical characteristics of female feet.
The shoe's development was grounded in data from more than 2 million foot scans, alongside behavioral and biomechanical research gathered by the Japanese brand's global Move Her Mind initiative.
Technical specs and ergonomics
The Bloom Stride's anatomy focuses on solving critical comfort and performance issues for female runners. The upper provides more room in the forefoot to accommodate the toes without excessive compression, combined with a firmer, more structured lockdown across the midfoot to ensure stability through every stride.
Looking at the specs, the model features a 6 mm drop and weighs 210 g, positioning it as a lightweight option for daily training and easy runs. The global launch took place in September with a suggested retail price of $150.
An end to downscaled men's shoes
The brand's initiative adds momentum to a growing technical conversation across endurance sports regarding standard unisex sizing, which in practice tends to favor male lasts. By mapping the real shape of women's arches, heels, and toe boxes, the project aims to deliver a precise fit straight out of the box.
