'Boston 130' Book Gathers 45 Iconic Marathon Stories
Curated by Júnior Double, the work will launch in São Paulo with authors and running figures in attendance.
The book Boston 130 brings together accounts from 45 runners representing 130 experiences at the historic American marathon. The official launch event takes place in São Paulo at the Keep Running store and is open to the public.
The history of the Boston Marathon gains a new literary chronicle with the Boston 130 project. Conceived and curated by José Júnior (Júnior Double), the publication compiles the journeys of 45 figures who collectively share 130 memorable experiences tied to the oldest and most coveted race in world road running.
Stories that go beyond the finish line
The initial concept for the book stemmed from Júnior Double's personal goal of making the Boston Marathon his 130th marathon. From that premise, the project expanded to gather an extensive collection of accounts: athletes who crossed the finish line dozens of times, race volunteers, runners who braved severe weather challenges, and inspiring stories of chasing qualifying times. Among the contributing authors is Carlos Gueiros, who chronicles his personal journey with the race.
São Paulo book launch with a thematic start time
The book launch gathering is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, open to all runners and sports enthusiasts. The event will take place at the Keep Running store in Vila Mariana, São Paulo, starting at 6:42 PM (18:42)—a playful nod to the classic 42-kilometer marathon distance.
The book signing will also feature runners and guest figures from the running scene, including journalist and author Sérgio Xavier, known for acclaimed works on the marathon experience such as Operação Portuga.
The release was highlighted on the Radar Stemma program, which, alongside its weekly roundup of races and running shoe releases, discussed how these behind-the-scenes stories continue to fuel runners' fascination with the iconic marathon.
