Skechers Debuts Aero Elite Supershoe for LA 2028

Featuring a full-length carbon plate and weighing just 167 grams, the new racer marks the brand's high-performance ambition.

Skechers has unveiled the Aero Elite, its first true super shoe featuring a full-length carbon plate and Hyper Burst Pro foam. Weighing just 167 g, the racer highlights the brand's road to the 2028 Olympic Games.

Skechers has officially entered the competitive arena of elite road racing footwear. The brand unveiled the Aero Elite, described by the company as its first genuine competition super shoe. Engineered for distances ranging from 5K to the full marathon, the racer debuts in the US market at a retail price of $225.

On the technical front, the Aero Elite combines a supercritical Hyper Burst Pro foam midsole with a full-length carbon plate. One of the most striking aspects of the design is its ultralight build: in a standard men's size, the shoe weighs just 167 grams (5.9 oz), placing it among the lightest contenders in the high-performance category.

A statement of intent for the Olympic cycle

Far more than a simple lineup refresh, this launch reflects a long-term strategic initiative. Skechers framed the Aero Elite as a clear statement of intent aimed at elite distance running ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The brand has previously enjoyed high-profile success in international distance racing, notably through its historic partnership with marathoner Meb Keflezighi, an Olympic medalist and winner of both the Boston and New York City Marathons. While the signature Go Run and Razor lines helped validate the brand's foam innovations on the asphalt, the goal now is to raise the bar on the elite world circuit.

Expansion in the Brazilian market

This global offensive coincides with the brand's rapid growth in Brazil, where its operations are backed by 3G Capital's investment portfolio. The company recently accelerated its brick-and-mortar footprint in the country with five new direct-to-consumer flagship stores across major retail hubs, including Guarulhos, Outlet Premium Itupeva, Barra da Tijuca, Contagem, and Anália Franco.

The roadmap targets ten brand stores by year-end while ramping up wholesale distribution to surpass 100 points of sale in the coming years, expanding local runners' access to the brand's latest innovations.
