Anta Sports Acquires Puma Stake, Becomes Top Shareholder

The €1.5 billion deal secures a 29.06% stake in the German brand and targets growth across Asia.

Chinese powerhouse Anta Sports has acquired a 29.06% stake in Puma for €1.5 billion, becoming its largest shareholder. The deal preserves Puma's management independence while accelerating expansion in China.

The global sportswear market just saw one of the year's most significant deals. Chinese giant Anta Sports has completed the acquisition of a 29.06% stake in Puma, officially becoming the German sportswear manufacturer's largest shareholder.

The transaction, valued at €1.5 billion, transfers the equity stake previously held by Artémis, the Pinault family's investment holding company, to the Chinese group. This move reinforces the growing financial and strategic clout of Asian brands across the global sports industry.

Management Autonomy and Focus on the Chinese Market

Despite the shift in major ownership, the German brand's corporate structure will experience no operational disruption. Puma will continue to operate independently, fully maintaining its brand identity, corporate governance, executive team, and creative autonomy.

From a strategic perspective, Anta Sports plans to leverage its extensive multi-brand operational expertise and retail distribution dominance in China to boost Puma's presence and sales across Asia, where demand for performance footwear and apparel continues to see strong growth.
