Mizuno has introduced the Hyper Warp 96, an ultralight racing prototype weighing just 96 grams with a global production run of only 696 pairs. The shoe features a 39mm stack height compliant with World Athletics regulations and made its public debut at the Berlin Marathon Expo.

The running supershoe market has reached a new milestone in lightness. During Berlin Marathon weekend, Mizuno unveiled the Hyper Warp 96, a racing concept prototype weighing an astonishing 96 grams. With an ultra-exclusive run limited to just 696 pairs worldwide, the model is the lightest high-performance running shoe ever created by the Japanese brand.

39mm Midsole and World Athletics Approval

Despite its minimal weight, the Hyper Warp 96 was engineered to meet elite athletics standards. Its midsole features a 39mm stack height—strategically designed to sit just below the 40mm limit regulated by World Athletics. This means the model is technically legal for professional athletes to race in official marathons and road competitions.

Minimalist Build and Sock-Like Fit

The upper utilizes a sock-like structure that eliminates heavy, traditional finishing elements. This slip-on construction provides a fast, direct fit without socks—a feature that appeals not only to marathon runners but also to triathletes looking for quick transitions. The total weight of the pair is so minimal that it is roughly equivalent to carrying three energy gel packets on your feet.

Availability and Pricing

The Hyper Warp 96 made its first public appearance at Mizuno's booth during the Berlin Marathon Expo. Global sales are slated to begin in December, with a retail price set at around 88,000 yen in Japan (approximately $600 USD). Global distribution is expected to be extremely limited, with final retail pricing in overseas markets likely impacted by local import taxes.
