Project Votoruna and the Power of Outdoor Sports

How the space emerged to bridge an infrastructure gap and became a go-to hub for cyclists and triathletes.

The surge in outdoor activities has transformed the sports landscape in recent years. Learn how Project Votoruna established dedicated infrastructure, hospitality, and community support for athletes who ride, run, and train hard.

The routine of outdoor training has changed radically in recent years. While endurance coaching groups were relatively limited and concentrated around 2016, the post-pandemic period accelerated the shift toward open-air workouts as people looked to escape indoor gyms on weekends. This boom in road running, cycling, and triathlon brought a new challenge: a lack of structured facilities tailored to amateur athletes.

From the Former Bike For Life to a New Hub

When the former Bike For Life closed its doors, the local endurance sports community faced the loss of a strategic support outpost. In response, Pavani and Maíra took on the challenge of reimagining the location to launch Votoruna. The project was not driven by purely commercial goals, but rather by the desire to solve the infrastructure deficit for cyclists, triathletes, and trail runners.

The facility was completely renovated to provide a welcoming atmosphere where athletes do not just finish a workout, but stick around afterward. The space was designed to cover everything from recovery to brick workouts: it features a sauna, an ice bath, transition treadmills for triathletes, food options, lounge seating, and custom cycling murals.

Community Strength and Market Traction

While the founders initially had to organize specific activations to draw crowds, the venue has since developed its own organic momentum. Every Saturday and Sunday now brings a steady flow of athletes and training clubs, solidifying its role as a premier community gathering point.

This growth reflects the maturing endurance market alongside rising demand for sports nutrition and gear. Ultimately, the movement proves that dedicated community hubs are vital to sustaining the expansion of outdoor sports in Brazil.
