ITR and Indoor Triathlon: Peu Guimarães' Dream Projects
The entrepreneur details a new Brazilian trail running circuit and plans for indoor triathlon to build grassroots sports.
In an interview on XTREMMA Sports, Peu Guimarães revealed the major sports ventures he aims to launch in Brazil. The entrepreneur highlighted the ITR mountain running circuit, focused on sustainability and proprietary rankings, along with indoor triathlon as a gateway for beginners.
Drawing on extensive experience in adventure racing, triathlon, and sports event management, Peu Guimarães shared his two dream projects during an appearance on the XTREMMA Sports podcast, hosted by Shubi Guimarães. Rather than merely importing established international franchises, his vision centers on building authentic brands with Brazilian DNA that foster grassroots talent development across the country.
A Brazilian trail running circuit
Guimarães' flagship venture is ITR, a proprietary mountain running circuit developed alongside the team at Icons. The goal is not to replicate global staples like UTMB, L'Étape, or Lavaredo, but rather to establish a well-structured national championship featuring an official ranking system and the potential to export the Brazilian brand internationally.
The rollout envisions three to five stages per year, blending permanent venues with rotating host cities. To organize routes across protected natural areas, the initiative maintains ongoing dialogue with ICMBio, embedding environmental conservation and sustainability directly into the racing experience.
Grassroots focus with indoor triathlon
Another major objective for Guimarães is establishing indoor triathlon events in Brazil. The dynamic and accessible format serves as an effective way to lower barriers to entry, welcoming beginners and acting as an incubator for upcoming athletic talent.
Beyond his event production ambitions, Guimarães remains committed to his own endurance training. Having completed multiple Ironman races, the athlete is now setting his sights on running a standalone marathon, with his participation already confirmed for the Amsterdam Marathon.
