From CISV to Barcelona Nightlife: Peu Guimarães' Path

Before building a sports management career, the entrepreneur immersed himself in Europe and ran major nightlife events.

On the XTREMMA Sports podcast, Peu Guimarães shared his background with CISV and his four-year stay in Barcelona. The entrepreneur reflected on his work in the Catalan nightlife scene, producing high-profile events for football stars and top Brazilian artists.

Peu Guimarães' journey in the event production and sports management industries is rooted in multicultural experiences and entertainment. During an appearance on the XTREMMA Sports podcast, hosted by his sister Shubi Guimarães, the entrepreneur recounted how his years with CISV (Children's International Summer Villages) and an unexpected chapter in Europe shaped his career before he established himself in the sports world.

From CISV volunteering to backpacking across Europe

Peu's involvement with CISV began in childhood and continued throughout his formative years. At age 11, he attended his first international village camp in Sweden, followed by another in Mongolia at age 14. Over time, he transitioned from participant to camp counselor, leading delegations of children abroad until he was invited in 2003 to coordinate setting up a camp in Denmark.

Taking advantage of his time in Europe during a transitional period in his life, Peu sold his car in Brazil, bought a train pass, and embarked on a six-month backpacking trip. After traveling through Eastern Europe, he made a scheduled two-week stop in Barcelona—a city that changed his plans completely. Captivated by the local lifestyle, he decided to move there and enroll in Spanish language courses.

Entertainment and football celebrations in Barcelona

Drawing on his background in organizing student events during high school and college, Peu quickly found his way into Catalonia's nightlife circuit. Starting as a promoter, he eventually became a partner and production manager at Lo Mejor de Barcelona, a nightlife agency managing events across roughly ten clubs in the city.

Throughout his four years in Spain—from ages 21 to 26—the agency organized major events, including celebrations for the FC Barcelona squad. Among his standout productions, Peu ran Ronaldinho's birthday party at Sutton Club featuring Grupo Revelação, as well as Copa del Rey victory parties at Pachá with performances by Furacão 2000, DJ Marlboro, and Sorriso Maroto.

Athletic background and returning to Brazil

Even while immersed in Barcelona's demanding nightlife routine, sports remained a constant for Peu Guimarães. Prior to moving to Europe, he had built a solid competitive foundation in water polo and dedicated several years to adventure racing. At age 18, he won his first major race at the Ecomotion in Serra da Bocaina with team Papaléguas, and went on to compete in prominent events like the Desafio dos Vulcões and Remada Amazônia.

The decision to return to Brazil came between late 2007 and early 2008, prompted by family priorities and the dissolution of his partnership in Spain following contractual disagreements. Back in São Paulo, Peu joined the production agency Mondo and co-founded popular venues such as Blá and Anexo, leveraging the logistics and hospitality expertise that would eventually guide him back to sports management.
