Puma Launches Dual Carbon-Plated Fast-R Nitro Elite 2

Featuring a bold trampoline effect, this supershoe delivers record energy return but is banned from official races.

Puma has unveiled the Fast-R Nitro Elite 2, a rule-breaking supershoe featuring dual carbon-fiber plates and a trampoline-like feel. While it offers record-breaking energy return for the brand, its design is banned from official competitions.

Puma has officially unveiled a radical addition to its high-performance lineup: the Puma Fast-R Nitro Elite 2. Featuring an aggressive geometry and a design reminiscent of a trampoline—even compared to a Kangoo Jump on Radar Stemma—this model positions itself as a true "Road Breaker" / "Rulebreaker," engineered to push past traditional boundaries of running propulsion.

Dual Carbon Plates and Record Energy Return

The shoe's standout feature lies in its mechanical architecture. It incorporates two stacked PWRPLATE carbon-fiber plates working alongside the midsole foam to generate extreme mechanical leverage. According to Puma's internal testing, this setup delivers the highest energy return ever recorded in any of the brand's running shoes.

On the scale, the shoe weighs approximately 250 grams (8.8 oz). Priced at 350 euros in the European market, it has an estimated lifespan of around 320 kilometers (200 miles)—meaning each kilometer logged costs over one euro.

Banned by World Athletics Regulations

Despite being engineered for pure speed, the new shoe cannot be worn by athletes aiming for official times or records. Its construction violates technical regulations for sanctioned competitions, primarily due to the dual carbon-fiber plates, as international rules permit only a single rigid plate embedded within the midsole.

The release stands as an extreme, concept-driven supershoe built for training and runners eager to experience peak propulsion and mechanical bounce, free from federation constraints.
