Jenny Parinos Shares the Stories Behind Her Tattoos

From a bet with her father to the Paralympics, the table tennis star wears her career and disability on her skin.

Table tennis player Jenny Parinos looked back at the origins of her most meaningful tattoos, ranging from a teenage bet to Paralympic milestones. Each piece reflects key chapters of her athletic journey and her path toward self-acceptance.

Far more than mere aesthetic choices, Jenny Parinos' tattoos serve as a visual map of her personal life and athletic career. Her very first tattoo came at age 16, the result of relentless family negotiation that turned into a high-performance challenge.

To curb his daughter's requests, her father set a condition he thought was nearly impossible: she would only get permission to get tattooed if she won every single tournament she entered that year. The challenge proved to be instant fuel. Jenny won every competition that season, earning the right to ink two table tennis paddles onto her skin—the very sport already shaping her destiny.

From Disability to the Paralympic Games

Among her body art, the table tennis star also reclaimed her genetic condition by tattooing a small flower with bowed legs, a direct nod to her physical disability. She also bears tattoos commemorating the three editions of the Paralympic Games where she represented Brazil: Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024.

Her collection also features tributes to the rock band Queen, messages of female empowerment, and repeating angel numbers, which she interprets as daily signs. With fresh athletic goals on the horizon, Jenny is already planning her next tattoo to celebrate her upcoming triathlon debut.
