Passion for 70.3 and Commitment to the Games

Even while competing in Brazilian events such as Brasília and Rio de Janeiro, Arnold explained that much of the international Ironman 70.3 calendar clashed directly with Olympic qualifiers. She emphasized that middle-distance racing is her true passion and the natural path for her athletic future, but the pursuit of the Olympic Games demanded top priority.

For Arnold, representing Team Brazil requires total dedication. Given her commitment to the national federation and the Olympic committee, she chose to keep her primary focus on the Olympic distance, racing 70.3 events only when schedule gaps allowed and adjusting her training volume accordingly.

Constant Pressure and the Need for Rest

The dynamics of the Olympic qualification cycle carry a heavy psychological burden due to the relentless push for international ranking points. Every race directly impacts ranking standings and mental stamina, creating a strain that extends well beyond physical fatigue.

After tackling an exhausting streak of seven consecutive events, Arnold acknowledged feeling worn down by constant travel and competition. To protect her physical and mental health, she decided to drop the China race from her schedule to secure an essential period of rest during the season.
