The Structure of Revenue Architecture

Created in Silicon Valley by Jacco van der Kooi, founder of Winning By Design, and popularized across Latin America by Renata Centurion, Revenue Architecture provides a mathematical approach to aligning marketing, sales, and Customer Success (CS). Its core goal is to operationalize the relationship across these three disciplines to ensure sustainable scale.

Frediano points out that earlier frameworks, such as Reforge's growth loops, previously helped companies understand demand systems, but this methodology deepens operational rigor: "It mathematically demonstrates how these areas connect, how a solid revenue structure drives scalable, predictable growth, how these growth levers interact, and how to pinpoint what's broken so you know where to fix and invest if growth isn't happening."

What Is Revenue Architecture and the New CMO Role?

Finance and Correlation with Business Results

With a background in International Relations, an early career as a trainee at Serasa, and postgraduate studies in finance at Insper, Frediano argues that financial acumen is essential for every marketer. The goal is not merely seeking immediate, direct cause-and-effect relationships, but identifying strong correlations between brand initiatives and company financial performance.

According to Frediano, branding and product marketing initiatives become measurable when their impact on the commercial ecosystem is clearly documented. By tailoring product positioning to the ideal customer profile and empowering sales teams, marketing directly influences conversion and revenue generation—justifying investments with metrics that resonate with executive leadership.

The Rise of the Revenue CMO

Historically, the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) seat has often been occupied by leaders with sales backgrounds, while marketing was frequently confined to creative deliverables or top-of-funnel metrics such as lead volume and clicks. Frediano argues that this dynamic demands a shift in mindset.

Modern marketing leaders leverage data, AI tools, and executive communication to directly influence business planning and product launches. According to Frediano, "The revenue CMO is someone who thinks strategically, influences the board, commands respect, and as I like to joke, finally earns a seat at the adults' table."
