The Social and Sustainable Impact of Businesses

Josiele Saugo analyzes local community integration and environmental responsibility in business practices.

Corporate responsibility extends far beyond profitability, directly influencing community growth and environmental conservation. Josiele Saugo discusses how modern business leaders can integrate positive socio-environmental impact into core operations.

Josiele Saugo, marketing coordinator at HiGestor, spoke with Bruno Gimenes on Marketing - The Podcast about the role of companies in driving social and environmental transformation, highlighting how structured initiatives create a positive impact across communities.

The segment is part of a broader discussion on marketing strategies and the creative economy featured in the video above. In Saugo's view, connecting professional practice, people, and creativity delivers consistent results both inside and outside corporate settings. "And I truly believe that by focusing on people and bringing a bit of our professional and personal connection with creativity, we can indeed change the world," Saugo stated.

The influence of business on people and communities

Addressing the reach of organizations, Saugo highlights the multiplier effect a company has on its employees and their personal networks. For her, each worker's reach ripples into broader family and social circles, magnifying the scale at which corporate decisions influence daily life.

Bruno noted that major corporations with 10,000 employees reach thousands of households directly, citing examples of hotel chains undertaking 10-hectare land regeneration projects and environmental conservation in areas public initiatives often fail to reach.

Community integration and practical sustainability

As an example of a model combining economic activity and socio-environmental impact, Saugo points to initiatives in the Amazon linked to chef Alex Atala, connecting supply chains with local sustainable development.

For Saugo, what sets such projects apart is involving local residents rather than limiting operations to commercial extraction: "Instead of just having someone go there and extract raw materials, why not integrate communities into the work he does in São Paulo, in a way where the Amazon and local production areas don't suffer such heavy impacts?"

Saugo emphasizes that socio-environmental responsibility relies on proactive, structured measures at every link of the supply chain, enabling businesses to generate jobs and protect ecosystems while preserving business sustainability.
