Viça Saraiva Plans Boulder Training Season and Family Move
On the Café com Tri podcast, the triathlete details his Colorado experience and dream of living abroad with family.
Captivated by the atmosphere in Boulder, Viça Saraiva revealed plans to spend a season in the United States with his family. The goal is to combine high-level endurance training with an enriching international experience for his children.
Considered one of the world's great endurance capitals and the birthplace of Ironman legends like Dave Scott and Mark Allen, Boulder, Colorado, completely won over Viça Saraiva. Appearing on the Café com Tri podcast by Stemma Sports, the experienced triathlete shared the profound impact the city had on his training routine and opened up about plans to spend an extended season abroad with his family.

The Colorado experience and athletic culture
Viça spent 15 days in Boulder following a trip to Hawaii to compete in the local Ironman 70.3. Staying at the home of professional athletes, the Brazilian was impressed by the city's infrastructure and the community's deep respect for outdoor sports enthusiasts. For him, the mountainous setting and diverse terrain make Boulder an even more complete destination to live and train than the Hawaiian archipelago, where pool access and course variety can be more limited.
Plans for an international season with family
The experience sparked the goal of planning a six- to eight-month stay in the United States. Viça aims to bring his wife and sons—Ian, 18, and Lucas, 12—to improve their English and immerse themselves in a different culture, while also enjoying the safety and tranquility the area offers for young people pursuing outdoor activities.
Adjustments to the athletic calendar
The original roadmap included additional training camps in Hawaii and Boulder to prepare for Ironman Florida in November. However, a recent fracture forced a temporary revision of his training and travel schedule, without diminishing his desire to make the Colorado season a reality as soon as his recovery is complete.
