Triathlete Jonathan Guisolan: Strategies and Records at Ironman 70.3 Brasília and Floripa.

Swiss-Brazilian triathlete Jonathan Guisolan discusses his participation in Ironman 70.3 Brasília and his anticipation for Ironman Floripa. He shares details about his passion for cycling, his velodrome record, and the emotion of competing in his mother's home country after 20 years. The athlete also reveals insights into his adaptation and cultural preferences in Brazil.

The Nubank Ultravioleta IRONMAN 70.3 Brasília 2026 welcomed an international visitor with a Brazilian accent: Jonathan Guisolan, a Swiss-Brazilian triathlete, who had an exclusive chat with Fabio Bessa and Thiago Kawamura. Jonathan shared his expectations for the race in the federal capital and for the Full Ironman in Floripa, as well as details about his passion for cycling and his strong connection to Brazil.

A Reunion with Brazil: Twenty Years Later

After two decades away from Brazil, Jonathan Guisolan returns to his mother's country to compete. Although he describes himself as someone who "understands, but doesn't speak Portuguese very well," Brazilian energy captivated him once again. He noticed the same joy and less stress in people compared to Switzerland and Europe, and even greater respect from drivers while cycling in Parque da Cidade in Brasília. His trip to Brazil includes two major races: the IRONMAN 70.3 Brasília and the Ironman Floripa, where he will compete in the full distance.

Speeding on the Tracks: Cycling and Strategy

Known for his passion and performance in cycling, Jonathan's main goal in Brasília is to have a "very strong bike split." He considers the federal capital's course very fast, with an altitude above a thousand meters, which results in less air resistance. Although he aims for the podium in Brasília, Jonathan Guisolan approaches this race "without pressure," as his main focus is on Ironman Floripa.

His history includes an impressive world record for the longest distance covered in 6 hours in a velodrome: 276.8 km. He describes this feat as the most difficult challenge of his career, due to the intensity and the 45-degree inclinations that cause pain throughout the body. Jonathan also plans to beat Miguel Hidalgo's bike time from the previous year in Brasília, showcasing his competitive spirit.

Flavors, Sounds, and a Mother's Concern

Outside of competitions, Jonathan shows a special fondness for Brazilian culture. His favorite food is the classic combination of rice, beans, and 'farinha' (cassava flour), complemented by a good pudding. For training motivation, especially during swimming, he listens to the song "Meia Lua Inteira" by Caetano Veloso. As a true Brazilian at heart, he roots for Cruzeiro in football, in addition to Servette in Switzerland.

On the eve of Mother's Day, Jonathan shared his mother's concern about his intense training, especially his long bike rides. A common worry that highlights the family support behind every high-performance athlete.

With Brazilian energy by his side and a champion's determination, Jonathan Guisolan promises great results on the tracks. Expectations are high to see his strategies come to fruition and his performance in both the IRONMAN 70.3 Brasília and the Floripa challenge.
