In the lighthearted Momento Roda Presa segment of Stemma Sports' Café com Tri podcast, runner Roberto Abrahao recalled a classic blunder that plagues athletes of all levels: going out too fast in the marathon and paying the price midway through. Even as someone accustomed to analyzing sports numbers and metrics, Abrahao admitted he has a love-hate relationship with the marathon distance. The athlete explained that despite knowing his pacing limits in theory, race-day excitement usually takes over: "I analyze the data, I know I can't do it, and I still crash every time," he noted.

The peak of his strategic missteps occurred at the 2023 New York City Marathon. Following six months of dedicated preparation under the guidance of Florianópolis-based coach André Salvazoni, an overly aggressive opening pace drained the energy needed to finish within his target time.

The outcome yielded humorous clips and an honest on-course vent. Unable to hold his pace, Abrahao completed the remainder of the course walking, scrolling through his phone, and recording videos lamenting months of training down the drain—all while sporting his running club's singlet on the American asphalt.
