Return to the Debut Course

The Rio Marathon holds special significance for Rejane, as it was where she made her debut at the 42k distance. In her first participation, she achieved an impressive fifth place. The current 2026 Rio Marathon course is similar to her debut, bringing back good memories and a familiarity that could be an advantage in the race.

Rejane Bispo and the Rio Marathon: Recovery, Strategy, and Challenges

The Challenge of Quick Recovery and the Sub-2:40 Goal

This year, Rejane Bispo has faced an intense race calendar. She is coming from the Porto Alegre Marathon, where, a week before her interview, she achieved her personal best time, running under 2:40 (2h39). Before that, she had already participated in the Paraná International Marathon. Running three marathons in a single year, with such short intervals between them, is an unprecedented experience for the athlete.

Even with the recovery challenge, Rejane remains optimistic. She explains that the training peak allows her to maintain good conditioning for two to three weeks. With this confidence, her goal for the Rio Marathon is clear: to seek a sub-2:40 time again.

Race Strategy and the Elite Scenario

With the Rio Marathon now having the World Athletics elite label, the competition attracts an even greater number of high-level runners. Rejane Bispo highlighted that, on race day, the strategy is very individual and depends on how the body responds. Although there is no prior plan to run in a group, the athlete recognizes the importance of fitting into a pace block if the opportunity arises.

Running in a group, when the pace is compatible with one's personal goal, is considered more viable than tackling the race alone, offering important support during the marathon miles. The decision to stay with a group or run individually is, therefore, dynamic and adjusted as the race progresses.

Rejane Bispo demonstrates focus and determination to face the Rio Marathon. Her experience, combined with a recovery strategy and the goal of a new sub-2:40 time, promises a remarkable performance in this edition of the race. The Stemma Sports team and spectators are rooting for her for another great achievement.
