In the Sprint Final segment, guests share favorite distances, World Major goals, and what to leave behind in training.
Gabi Mafra and Thaís join the quick-fire segment on Girls Who Run to share their ideal workouts, favorite cross-training routines, and World Marathon Major dreams.
In the traditional Sprint Final segment of the Girls Who Run podcast, Gabi Mafra and Thaís tackled a series of quick-fire questions summarizing their relationship with running. In a relaxed, candid conversation, they discussed training routines, favorite race distances, and their biggest lessons on bringing a lighter mindset to everyday running.
Routines, distances, and running partners
When it comes to training dynamics, the preference for running with company was unanimous. Their daily schedules, however, tell different stories: while one loves kicking off her workouts promptly at 5:30 a.m., the other uses her lunch break to get moving under the midday sun. As for favorite distances, the half marathon (21k) and 10k shared top honors.
Ditching pace pressure and rigid plans
Looking back at past pressures that now seem excessive, sticking blindly to training spreadsheets and workout wardrobe insecurities were noted as hurdles left behind. For the female running community as a whole, both guests advocated viewing both pace and mileage with less pressure, shifting the spotlight back to the pure joy of the sport.
As for cross-training, yoga was highlighted as an essential practice for building mobility and flexibility, while CrossFit earned praise for adding intensity and an engaging physical challenge to their fitness routines.
Dream finish lines
When looking ahead, the World Marathon Majors topped their wish lists: the New York City Marathon and the Chicago Marathon stand out as the dream finish lines they hope to cross through upcoming lotteries. Finally, choosing between happy hour and running hour brought the best of both worlds: a workout followed immediately by celebration.
