Intense Preparation and Training Volume

Race Strategy and Dynamics

This will be Martin's first Ironman, but there's no pressure. His main goal is to enjoy the race and have an excellent debut, a positive step for his young career. He has already spoken with Luciano and Fernando to understand the dynamics of Florianópolis but stresses that the experience will be unique.

Regarding strategy, Martin aims to swim in the first group and, from there, assess how the race unfolds. With high-level cycling, the goal is to save his legs to be able to run a strong marathon. He recognizes that Ironman Floripa 2026 will be one of the most competitive in recent years, which further motivates him to test his level and identify areas for improvement for future participations in Kona.

Pre-Race Routine and Ambitions

In the days leading up to the race, Martin's routine focuses on rest and nutrition. He prioritizes good eating and stomach well-being, ensuring everything is perfect for the race. The hard work has already been done in Colombia; now it's time to finalize and reap the rewards of the training.

In terms of race nutrition, Martin plans to consume between 90 and 100 grams of carbohydrates per hour on the bike, adjusting as needed for his body. On the run, the goal is 60 grams per hour, but he is ready to take in more if he can. His big dream in triathlon, having already won a 70.3, is to win an Ironman, and he is determined to pursue that goal. For the finish line, he dreams of an epic song that celebrates the grand meaning of completing an Ironman.
