Preparation in Brazil and the Choice for a Full Ironman

Jonathan Guisolan spent three weeks in São Paulo, training with Rafa Tuterá's Team Sport Club, who will now be his new coach. He praised Brazil's structure for long-distance race preparation, highlighting a training camp in Serra Negra and the training facilities in Estreito Velho, where he was able to simulate all three triathlon disciplines in an organized manner, something he says is not as easily found in Switzerland.

Guisolan's preference is clear: he loves the training volume required by a Full Ironman. Even though he hasn't been in the sport for a very long time, the athlete feels comfortable with sessions lasting 6, 7, or even 8 hours. His passion for long training sessions is a key advantage when facing the challenging distances of a full triathlon.

Performance Analysis in Brasília and Prospects for Floripa

Recalling his participation in the Brasília race, Jonathan highlighted an excellent performance in cycling, achieving the best bike split of the race, just 30 seconds shy of Miguel's time. However, he noted that the large number of athletes on the second lap of the bike forced him to constantly swerve, which prevented him from hydrating properly and, consequently, impacted his final run. His aerodynamic position on the bike was particularly praised for its fluidity and efficiency.

Regarding the IRONMAN in Floripa and the challenge of breaking the cycling record (4 hours and 9 seconds, held by Taccone), Jonathan Guisolan believes it's possible to cycle under 4 hours on the course, although it's not his main objective. He understands that factors such as weather conditions and wind can directly influence this achievement.

Race Strategy and Competition at Ironman Brazil

Jonathan expressed enjoying competing in races with a high level of athletes. However, for a Full Ironman, his strategy focuses more on his own performance than on race tactics, unlike a 70.3. He aims to make a strong transition from cycling to running, ensuring good performance in both stages to achieve a good overall placement.

When asked about the favorites for IRONMAN Brazil, Guisolan named Yuri Kullen as his main favorite, in addition to Willem Erts and Ognjen Stojanovic, highlighting them as very strong and solid athletes.

Future Plans and Triathlon Dreams

The athlete confirmed he intends to return to Brazil on other occasions and is considering participating in 70.3 races later this year, mentioning Aracaju (Sergipe) and Rio de Janeiro as possible destinations. He also shared that his first triathlon race was an Olympic distance in Switzerland in 2022. After an unsatisfactory experience with competitive cycling, triathlon brought a new passion, with less stress.

Jonathan revealed he consumes between 125 and 130 grams of carbohydrates per hour during races, potentially increasing slightly during the cycling segment. His biggest dream in triathlon is to achieve a podium finish in Kona, the world stage of Ironman. For a finish line song, he would choose "Petit pays" by Gaëtan Fay.

Jonathan Guisolan's passion for triathlon, his disciplined preparation, and his ambitious goals, such as a podium finish in Kona, inspire everyone. His focus on individual performance and his admiration for Brazil's high-performance training structure reinforce the spirit of the sport. May his journey toward triathlon's challenges continue to be successful and full of great achievements, serving as an example for many aspiring triathletes.
