Intense and Balanced Preparation

Edu Siroto highlighted the intensity of his preparation, even with a short cycle after 70.3 races. He revealed that despite time constraints due to his work routine, he managed to maintain a high training volume, equivalent to that of a 70.3, but with a greater focus on cycling.

"We managed to do a lot of specific training; it was very good; we put in hours of training," Edu explained. He mentioned the importance of balancing swimming volume with an explosion in bike volume, reaching over 100 km per week. The triathlete also emphasized the benefit of group training, such as those done with Guizolan, Rafa, and Vitor Hugo, which help to motivate and make long sessions more enjoyable, even with challenging altimetry.

The Professional Athlete's Mindset

One of the key points of the interview was Edu Siroto's mindset. After a fall that took him out of IRONMAN in 2024 (with a clavicle fracture), he learned to value every training cycle. "If there's one thing that 2024 with that clavicle fall taught me, and I was very grateful for having enjoyed the '24 cycle, today I enjoy all cycles," he stated.

He emphasizes the importance of arriving "whole" at the race, both physically and mentally, without the excessive fatigue that many amateurs experience. Edu also addressed the social role of the professional athlete, which goes beyond sponsorships, serving as inspiration and perpetuating the sport by interacting with the public and participating in commitments before the race.

Nutritional Strategy and Race History

When asked about his nutritional strategy, Edu Siroto detailed his carbohydrate intake during the race:

  • Swimming: Pre-swim and post-swim intake.
  • Cycling: Between 140 to 150 grams of carbohydrates per hour.
  • Running: From 80 to 100 grams of carbohydrates per hour, adjusting with caffeine as needed.

He emphasized that this nutritional adaptation is the result of about three years of work with his nutritionist, showing that it's not something achieved "overnight."

Edu also shared his journey with IRONMAN Brazil, describing it as his "third debut" in the same race: the frustrated attempt in 2024, finishing as an amateur in 2025 with a time of 8 hours and 46 minutes, and now his debut as a professional. His goal is to significantly improve his time, although he acknowledges variables like wind and the more solitary nature of the professional race.

For Edu Siroto, his dream in triathlon is to "be among the top five in races" and, once he achieves that goal, to double it. He considers himself already living a dream by being a professional athlete, something he didn't expect just a year ago. His finish line song reflects his passion for electronic music, mentioning artists like Lost Frequencies, Martin Garrix, and Avicii's "Wake Me Up," which holds special meaning.

IRONMAN Brazil 2026 promises to be a major challenge and an opportunity for Edu Siroto to showcase his full potential and dedication. Follow the race on Sunday, starting at 6 AM, and feel the energy of each athlete on their journey.
