Dani Castro Eyes Ironman Brazil, Tests Pace at 70.3 Curitiba

The athlete uses the race in Paraná as a benchmark ahead of her full-distance debut in Florianópolis and confirms her spot for the 70.3 World Championship in Nice.

Preparing for her first full-distance Ironman in Florianópolis, Dani Castro kicks off her season at Ironman 70.3 Curitiba. The triathlete assesses her training cycle, reflects on her recovery from an accident, and highlights the importance of female representation in endurance sports.

Kicking off the national season calendar, Dani Castro arrived at Ironman 70.3 Curitiba with a clear goal: using the race as an intensity test in the middle of a high-volume training block ahead of her full-distance debut. Her primary target for the first half of the year is set for May at Ironman Brazil in Florianópolis.

Pacing adjustments and focus on the 226 km

With Ironman Florianópolis roughly three months away, Dani's training regimen has entered a phase of progressive volume increases. Competing in the capital of Paraná serves as a competitive benchmark to check her body's response after the early-year rest period and dial in a faster pace on the course before the cycle's crucial long sessions.

From recovery in Brasília to qualifying for Nice

Pursuing the 226 km distance is a delayed goal from the previous year. In 2025, an accident during the race in Brasília forced Dani to halt her initial plans and postpone her full-distance debut. Her comeback arrived in the second half of the year: fully recovered from the injury, she secured fifth place in her age group at Ironman 70.3 São Paulo—earning a qualifying slot for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France—and delivered a consistent finish at the World Championship in Marbella.

Strength and female representation in triathlon

Racing over the International Women's Day weekend, Dani reflected on her journey since starting triathlon in 2022. At the time, she felt a lack of young female role models in the sport, a gap she is now helping bridge by encouraging more women to tackle endurance distances.

Among the main inspirations shaping her journey in the sport, Dani highlights historic icons like Fernanda Keller, elite standard-bearers like Pâmela Oliveira, and especially Bia Neres—whose image competing in Kona wearing a swimsuit became a personal milestone and style reference for her own races.
