Velocità Celebrates 30 Years with Group Run and Future Plans
Alexandre Estefano outlines the milestones marking three decades of the running brand and its future expansion strategy.
Velocità is celebrating 30 years of connecting the road running community. Alexandre Estefano shares details on the anniversary group run across São Paulo stores, the Black Friday Run, and mapping the Brazilian runner profile.
Celebrating three decades at the epicenter of Brazilian road running calls for a milestone worthy of the asphalt. To mark its 30th anniversary, specialty running retailer Velocità rolled out a series of commemorative initiatives that blend brand activations, community engagement, and major challenges for runners.
Key highlights include the Black Friday Run, designed to draw up to 10,000 participants, alongside a special year-end group run linking the brand's brick-and-mortar stores across São Paulo.
The 30th anniversary mega group run across São Paulo stores
Scheduled for December 20, the special anniversary year-end run was designed to connect Velocità's five stores across São Paulo. The event operates like a progressive pack run: runners start from the farthest store, with new groups joining the route as it passes subsequent locations, culminating in a major celebration at the Moema store.
Registration is capped at roughly 200 participants, offering four distance options depending on the starting point:
- 37 km: Starting at the East Zone location (near CERET Park)
- 22 km: Starting at the North Zone location (Santana / Braz Leme)
- 12 km: Starting at the Downtown / Paulista location (Alameda Jaú)
- 7 km: Starting at the Pinheiros location (West Zone)
The finish line in Moema will feature partner brand activations, shoe wear-testing, and a celebration for athletes completing the courses.
Velocità's retail footprint and connection to city parks
The strategic placement of Velocità's physical stores was planned to cover São Paulo's main training hubs, bringing the in-store experience closer to the parks and routes where athletes train.
The East Zone store sits next to CERET Park, whose renovated running track was recently reopened to the public. In the North Zone, the Braz Leme Avenue store will integrate with the new park and the upcoming 4 km track at Campo de Marte. The Alameda Jaú location holds historical significance as the brand's birthplace (formerly Sport Run), while Pinheiros serves as company headquarters and Moema stands as the chain's flagship retail space.
Data intelligence and future roadmap
Beyond commemorative events, Velocità is charting its next steps by leveraging direct engagement with the running community. Through the Velocità Club and race registrations, the company gathers insights into weekly training frequency, mileage, and footwear preferences.
The goal is to synthesize these metrics into a comprehensive study on the profile of runners in São Paulo and across Brazil, sharing these findings with the broader sports ecosystem. Future plans also include launching a proprietary Velocità road race, engineered to combine high performance with an inclusive running experience.
