Nike Apex: four Air Zoom units and zero drop

Designed to deliver maximum energy return in the pursuit of records, the Nike Apex introduces an unprecedented midsole architecture. The shoe combines four Air Zoom pods stacked in pairs at the forefoot, a carbon-fiber plate, and a constant 40 mm stack height from heel to toe, resulting in a zero-drop profile.

The bold geometry caught attention in discussions on Radar Stemma, drawing comparisons to historical running experiments such as Newton's signature forefoot lugs or Mizuno's concept track shoes engineered purely for forefoot striking. The global launch of the Nike Apex is slated for January 2027.

Sush Fly: stability and carbon for beginners

Taking a different approach, the Sush Fly was developed with a focus on comfort and stability for runners tackling the marathon distance for the first time. The model is also equipped with a carbon plate, but comes with a more accessible price tag, announced at $145.

The Sush Fly's commercial debut is scheduled for February in China, with a global rollout expected in the following months.

A lineup refresh for the brand

The arrival of the Apex and the Sush Fly signals true innovation in the American brand's portfolio, which had previously focused updates on staple daily trainers like the Pegasus, Vomero, and Structure. With new tooling, revamped uppers, and distinct functional goals, expectations are high for how these shoes will perform on the road.
