Asics Campaign Warns Against Modern Sedentary Lifestyles

Narrated by Sigourney Weaver, the short film encourages 15 minutes of daily movement to combat screen time.

Asics has released the short film Human Nature, narrated by Sigourney Weaver, which satirizes sedentary behavior in front of screens. Inspired by a global survey of 34,000 people, the campaign invites everyone to dedicate 15 minutes to daily movement.

What if traditional wildlife documentaries turned their lenses on our own species, observing humans sitting motionless in front of screens? That is the premise of Human Nature, a humorous short film released by Asics and narrated by actress Sigourney Weaver. The production explores how excessive comfort and modern conveniences have stripped physical movement from our daily routines.

The impact of sedentary behavior in numbers

The campaign was informed by a global study on physical activity and well-being conducted with 34,000 adults across 31 markets. The findings raise a red flag, particularly in Brazil, where 35% of respondents reported getting less than 30 minutes of physical activity per week.

An invitation to 15 minutes of movement

In response to these findings, the project proposes a simple challenge: set aside at least 15 minutes a day to uplift the mind and move the body, whether by walking, running, or dancing. Running around ten minutes long, the film aims to raise awareness that breaking free from couch inertia doesn't require drastic lifestyle overhauls, but rather a conscious commitment to building active daily habits.
