Ironman 70.3 Floripa: Jennifer Arnold Wins Back-to-Back Title

Featuring its Jurerê Internacional debut and an all-female pro field, the race saw a Brazilian 1-2 finish and 1,800 athletes on the course.

Jennifer Arnold claimed back-to-back victories at Ironman 70.3 Florianópolis by winning the women's professional race in Jurerê Internacional. The event brought together 1,800 athletes and marked the middle-distance race's debut at the traditional venue of Santa Catarina triathlon.

The Ironman 70.3 Florianópolis thrilled the coast of Santa Catarina with a historic edition featuring major updates. For the first time, the middle distance debuted on the streets of Jurerê Internacional—the traditional home of the full-distance Ironman Brazil—moving away from its previous course at Praia dos Ingleses. The event brought together around 1,800 age-group and professional athletes from 14 countries, showcasing an exclusively female professional field.

Brazilian dominance and back-to-back elite titles

In the pro division, the top spot on the podium went once again to Jennifer Arnold, who secured her second consecutive victory at the event. Jennifer crossed the finish line with a time of 4h03m56s. The win was built on consistency: after trading the lead with fellow Brazilian Vittoria Lopes during the swim and bike legs, Jennifer took the definitive lead on the run.

Vittoria Lopes secured a 1-2 finish for Brazil by taking second place, completing the course in 4h08m18s. The women's elite podium was rounded out by French athlete Julie Iemmolo, who clocked a time of 4h16m41s. The standalone professional women's race highlighted the female field, giving fans a clear view of every lead change right up to the final stretch.

Water rescue and the transition to Sergipe

Among the day's events, an official jet ski had to navigate through the swim pack to provide immediate medical assistance to a competitor in distress, successfully completing the rescue.

With the conclusion of the event in Santa Catarina's capital, the national middle-distance circuit turns its attention to the Northeast. The next major stop for the pro field—this time featuring the men's category—will take place in November at Ironman 70.3 Sergipe, which now officially carries the state's name following support from the state government.
