Elite performance and brand dominance

In the battle for the top spots, the elite field delivered world-class performances. In the men's division, the winner crossed the finish line just three to four seconds shy of setting a new course record. In the women's race, the course record was broken. A notable detail behind the scenes was the battle of the brands: despite Mizuno serving as the event's official sponsor, both elite victories were claimed by athletes wearing Adidas shoes.

Course challenges and the impact of carbon plates

Among notable amateur runners, sports journalist Bruno Vicari clocked a time of 2:59, achieving a coveted sub-3-hour finish despite describing the extreme physical toll required to maintain his pace in the final stretch. The event also highlighted solid data on performance running shoes: statistics show that since 2020, 100% of podium finishers at major global marathons wore carbon-plated shoes, compared to 67% to 68% recorded between 2018 and 2019.
