For André, the competitive atmosphere is completely healthy—so much so that the two plan to train together at the end of the year. He highlighted that professional triathlon in Brazil has cultivated a close-knit community where athletes share international travel logistics, Kona World Championship qualification strategies, and training camp experiences. The fierce rivalry, he noted, only begins the moment the starting horn sounds.
History since Boulder and recent head-to-head
The bond between the two athletes goes back a long way. André recalled a 2018 training camp in Boulder, Colorado, where they shared training sessions with renowned athletes like Tim Don. At the time, André was competing in his first year in the sport, while Toldi already had international experience.
Reflecting on their head-to-head record with good humor, André noted that he used to win more early in their careers, but acknowledged his compatriot's recent dominance. The last time André came out on top was at the 2025 Ironman Brazil; since then, Toldi has had the upper hand.
