B2B Marketing as a Business Strategy and Tech Curation
Simone Justiniano, Marketing Director at Delfia, analyzes brand repositioning and leadership in the tech sector.
Simone Justiniano outlines how B2B marketing evolved from operational support into a strategic engine at Delfia. The discussion covers her shift from consumer goods to tech, digital curation, sales alignment, and diversity in leadership.
Simone Justiniano, Marketing Director at Delfia, discussed the strategic role of marketing within the B2B tech landscape and the development of authentic brands during an interview with Bruno Gimenes on Marketing - The Podcast. The executive traced her journey from her early career to establishing structured sales rituals, corporate education programs, and cultural initiatives.
In the video above, Justiniano breaks down the practical nuances of leading communications across a complex ecosystem, explaining how blending creativity with business metrics solidifies brand equity before the board of directors.
Who Is Simone Justiniano and the Pursuit of Curiosity
Reflecting on her core identity beyond corporate titles, Justiniano recalled a childhood memory that shaped her commitment to continuous learning. She emphasized that an ongoing drive to test the unfamiliar and explore unconventional paths guides her professional decision-making.
"I love observing things; I love learning things. I think that phrase truly captures who I am. I am deeply drawn to discovering new ideas and experimenting with the unfamiliar," Justiniano noted, connecting personal curiosity directly to innovation.
The Transition from Consumer Goods to IT Marketing
Drawing on past experience in consumer goods and the automotive sector, Justiniano navigated the challenge of stepping into technology—an industry traditionally viewed as insular. She noted that her background in structured consumer markets brought authenticity and human connection to corporate messaging.
"Because deep down, Bruno, everything revolves around people, right? And we're talking about an industry that is often seen as cold, rigid, like a black box. I believe the vibrancy I bring from other sectors helps transform Delfia into an authentic brand that stands out from the competition," Justiniano explained regarding her approach to the B2B2C model.
The Creation of Delfia and the Concept of Tech Curation
The brand repositioning that turned Econocom Brazil into Delfia required an in-depth diagnostic and a conscious rejection of superficial tactical approaches. The company selected a warm-green visual identity and embraced curation as the cornerstone of its value proposition, drawing direct inspiration from art curators.
"An art curator doesn't sell a product; they provide something foundational—intelligence. It is the curator's insight that keeps them attuned to external, cutting-edge innovations. They practice active listening with museums to understand their needs and pain points, filtering what is trending across mature markets to bring the right solutions to the institution," Justiniano shared.
The New Strategic and Provocative Role of B2B Marketing
For marketing to transcend its image as mere operational support and claim a seat at executive decision-making tables, Justiniano argues that communications leaders need the resilience and courage to defend unconventional viewpoints. She stressed the importance of understanding stakeholder perspectives and tailoring language without compromising technical rigor.
"Today, a communications professional isn't just someone who speaks; they must adapt their message to different audiences. That means talking to a board and understanding fundamental concepts with a product manager that might be obvious to one person but unfamiliar to another. It requires the humility to truly understand the listener," Justiniano noted, referencing the growth of her marketing budget from R$ 2,000 per month to multimillion-figure investments.
Internal Communications, Business Acumen, and Proprietary Image Banks
The need to translate marketing KPIs into tangible business metrics led Justiniano to pursue an executive MBA in business management, bridging corporate functions with clear financial performance. This rigorous focus supported the creation of a proprietary image library for Delfia, breaking away from generic, standardized foreign stock photography.
"We built Delfia's own image bank featuring local Brazilian actors and authentic diversity. When we launched the campaign, it was an absolute success," Justiniano recounted, underscoring how cultural authenticity creates a distinct competitive advantage in enterprise services.
Marketing and Sales Alignment and Integration
Eliminating friction between commercial and communications teams is achieved through structured routines at Delfia. Justiniano established recurring weekly meetings with sales and channel leadership, alongside in-depth discovery interviews to map each commercial director's objectives before finalizing annual planning.
"Once teams understand that marketing provides the strategic tools to help them hit their targets and that we are working toward the same goals, the dynamic shifts from competition to true partnership," Justiniano affirmed regarding building mutual trust.
Corporate University and Employees as Brand Ambassadors
To tackle the tech talent shortage, Delfia created the Delfia Corporate University (UCD) in partnership with human resources. The initiative serves as a talent incubator and strengthens internal marketing, empowering employees to become primary brand advocates for clients.
"Most of our curators are embedded directly at client sites, carrying our brand values with them," Justiniano highlighted, noting how strong employee engagement reinforces external market reputation.
Creative Agency Acquisitions by Tech Giants
The ongoing trend of consultancies and enterprise technology firms acquiring advertising agencies reflects a growing realization that brand building is vital in B2B markets. Integrating creative capabilities enriches service portfolios while shedding light on the technical breakthroughs happening behind the scenes.
"In B2B, buyers purchase from partners they trust. And brand perception is what builds that trust. Does this brand have a strong reputation? Does it genuinely connect with clients and their business needs?" Justiniano observed, analyzing the convergence of communications and technology infrastructure.
MASP Sponsorship, Diversity, and Female Leadership
The choice to sponsor the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP) stemmed from customer research and the official debut of the Delfia brand inside the museum's auditorium. On the social front, Justiniano shared the impact of teaching marketing and business courses to underprivileged youth, as well as the realities of Black representation in executive leadership.
"Among female leadership across the company, I am the only Black executive. It can feel like being a blue dot in a yellow ocean, and navigating that comes with real challenges. But at the same time, I see how much I am opening doors so others can see themselves in leadership roles too," Justiniano concluded.
