B2B AI Demands Process Redesign and Clean Data
Felix Grivot discusses CRM automation, the myth of being data-driven, and the enduring human element in complex sales.
Applying artificial intelligence in B2B sales and marketing requires restructuring workflows before automating them. In a discussion on commercial technology and management, clean data and the human touch remain critical to closing complex deals.
In an interview with Bruno Gimenes on Marketing - The Podcast, Felix Grivot, Head of B2B Marketing at FCamara, discussed the impact of artificial intelligence and structured data on B2B commercial operations.
According to Grivot, achieving true scale with generative AI tools and large language models comes not from accelerating one-off tasks, but from redesigning operational workflows. He notes that simply layering technology on top of legacy methods does not solve operational bottlenecks.
The Need to Rethink Operational Processes
When evaluating the emergence of LLM-based tools, Grivot argues that many companies only see incidental gains because they preserve their previous workflow structures. In his view, scaling effectively demands overhauling how teams execute their daily routines.
"The way I see it, Daniel, the first major hurdle is that until we stop and rethink processes through the lens of AI, we're going to spin our wheels. It's not just spinning our wheels—we won't be able to scale the solution. The process itself has to be redesigned," says Grivot.
The executive emphasizes that hands-on experimentation is the key to understanding where technology generates real value. Grivot references guidance from FCamara CEO Fábio Câmara: "With AI, you have to get your hands dirty. You have to tinker. You have to meddle with it. You need to integrate it into your daily routine because that's how you'll learn to build solutions for your team."
CRM Automation and Lead Enrichment
Among the practical use cases being tested at FCamara, Grivot highlights automated data enrichment powered by a contact's email address. Using that single data point, systems query public databases to retrieve revenue figures, LinkedIn profiles, and strategic context for SDRs and sales reps, significantly reducing friction during prospecting.
Another key efficiency driver is CRM data entry—historically one of the greatest friction points for sales teams. Solutions that capture meetings and log notes directly into the system eliminate manual data entry, freeing up rep time for more customer interactions.
Exposing Disorganized Databases
For Grivot, the rise of AI has highlighted a longstanding vulnerability across enterprises: the lack of structured, integrated data. He argues that the talk of running a 'data-driven' operation frequently ran into fragmented databases and siloed systems that didn't communicate with each other.
"AI exposed the lack of data—or rather, the lack of data organization. It's very easy to knock on doors and say, 'Hey, we're data-driven.' Great, now feed that data into AI and let it analyze it," notes Grivot.
He points out that raw data analysis has become commoditized by language models, but the principle of garbage in, garbage out still holds true. Without refined, interconnected data, models cannot deliver useful insights to guide fast-paced business decisions.
The Human Element and AI as a Sales Copilot
In the video above, Grivot breaks down how commercial leaders should approach AI literacy to empower their teams rather than seeking to replace essential roles.
Even in B2B negotiations involving buying committees and rational decisions, Grivot maintains that interpersonal connection and building trust remain decisive. In his view, AI serves as an intelligence copilot for sales professionals.
"I see AI acting as a copilot for sales reps throughout the sales cycle. Those with strong sales skills will keep them, but AI will arm them with better tools," explains Grivot. "At the end of the day, you'll have the data and the insights, but without the human touch, without that eye-to-eye connection, deals won't close. Reps who master these tools, however, will have Batman's utility belt ready to go."
