The Chain of Good That Starts at School

Four years ago, Colégio Pentágono, at its Perdizes unit, joined forces with Turma do Jiló in a partnership that blossomed from shared compassion. It all began when a fourth-grade teacher, inspired by a news report about the NGO, mobilized her students. Since then, the campaign to collect aluminum tabs and electronic waste has spread throughout the entire school, involving class representatives, teachers, and the entire school community. The objective is twofold: to help others with adapted wheelchairs and to promote sustainability, ensuring the proper disposal of waste.

Maria Vitória: A Dream of Mobility and Autonomy Fulfilled

The highlight of the event was the arrival of Maria Vitória, or Mavi, accompanied by her mother. The moment of the adapted wheelchair delivery revealed the family's daily challenges. Mavi's mother shared the difficulty of transporting her – “she loves going to the beach, but how do I take her?” – and the lack of a chair for home use or outings. The new chair means much more than just mobility; it's autonomy, inclusion, and the possibility of experiencing new things, from a trip to the mall to the long-awaited visit to the beach. The emotion and gratitude of Mavi's mother were palpable, as she thanked everyone who made this dream a reality.

Humanizing Inclusion and Inspiring the Future

Teacher Bel, who initiated the project at the school, emphasizes the importance of humanizing the cause. The children of Colégio Pentágono, by witnessing the delivery and learning about Mavi and her family's story, connect more deeply with the impact of their actions. This direct contact moves and sensitizes students, further boosting donations of tabs and electronic waste after each delivery. It's proof that seeing the faces and gratitude of those who benefit strengthens engagement and solidarity, fostering more conscious and empathetic citizens.

The 'Seal This Idea' project is a testament to the power of collaboration and generosity. Each tab donated is not just a piece of metal, but a step towards a more accessible and inclusive world. Your participation, whether by donating tabs at collection points, contributing financially through Turma do Jiló's website, or simply spreading the word, makes all the difference. Join this chain of good and help build a future where no one is left behind.
