How Your Pull-Tabs Become Hope
The mechanism behind “Lacre Essa Ideia” is simple and efficient: it all begins with collecting the pull-tabs. Turma do Jiló receives them at various collection points – one, for example, is at the residence of a collaborator in Santo André, and another at Rua Tabapuã, 111, Itaim Bibi, as described in their channel.
To order a single wheelchair, approximately 500 2-liter PET bottles filled with pull-tabs are needed! Once accumulated, these pull-tabs are sent to a recycling company. The recycling company then makes a monetary donation to the organization. It is with this amount that Turma do Jiló is able to order the adaptive wheelchairs.
The manufacturing process for each wheelchair takes, on average, 30 days, not including delivery time by the transport company. Finally, the wheelchair is delivered to the child who greatly needs it, changing their reality and that of their family.
