In an interview with Stemma Sports ahead of Ironman 70.3 Florianópolis, Romina Palacio celebrated her return to racing in Brazil. The Argentine triathlete analyzed the Jurerê course and explained why the circuit could yield fast times.
A veteran of racing in Brazil, Argentine triathlete Romina Palacio is back in the country to compete in Ironman 70.3 Florianópolis. Speaking with Stemma Sports, the athlete celebrated her return to Brazilian competition, highlighting her positive mindset, good health, and high energy as she prepares to line up at the start in Santa Catarina's capital.
Calm waters in Jurerê and high hopes for a fast race
Familiar with the island's traditional layout, Romina believes the course set up in Jurerê Internacional has everything needed for fast times, provided weather conditions and wind do not pose extra hurdles. In her view, the sheltered waters favor the field—especially most amateur competitors—even though she personally prefers choppier conditions, such as the previous year's experience at Praia dos Ingleses.
On the bike and run segments, the Argentine remains equally optimistic. Featuring pavement well known to anyone who has raced Ironman Brazil, the bike split turns exceptionally fast without strong winds, while the run course in Jurerê offers scenic views and ideal conditions to maintain a strong pace all the way to the finish line.
