Fast swim and resilience in the chase pack
The start tested the pace of the sport's rising stars. As Julia noted, the intensity of the swim far exceeded the standard seen in regional and continental events. After a demanding opening leg, she accelerated through transition and on the second lap to bridge up to the chase pack on the bike.
The cycling segment demanded absolute focus. Riding in a large, technical pack, Julia spent the early part of the leg around 35th place, fighting to avoid crashes and stay connected to the pace set by the leaders.
Run surge and season-best finish
It was heading into the run that the Brazilian's pace truly stood out. Maintaining an aggressive tempo from start to finish, Julia overtook dozens of competitors and climbed through the field to cross the finish line in 11th place, just positions away from the world's top 10.
