From Childhood Coding to AI: Pedro Daniel's Journey
On Marketing - The Podcast, the founder of Escola de IA reflects on his journey in technology from early childhood.
Pedro Daniel reflects on his journey in technology, from coding in early childhood with his mother's encouragement to becoming an early adopter of ChatGPT in 2022. He details his career transition from digital services to specializing in artificial intelligence.
Pedro Daniel, founder of Escola de IA, joined Bruno Gimenes on Marketing - The Podcast to discuss his journey in tech, his early introduction to coding as a child, and how he began working with artificial intelligence. The episode also explores the practical application of intelligent agents and automation in corporate customer service.
In the video above, Daniel details his earliest experiences with computers in the late 1990s and how his family environment shaped his career. "My turning point was that I always loved technology; I've been hooked on tech and innovation ever since I was very little," Daniel shares.
Early learning encouraged by family
His introduction to computers began at age 3 or 4, encouraged by his mother, who had been coding since the 1980s and was building Notepad websites in the late 1990s for the family cruise business. By age 7, Daniel was already coding in HTML, and by 15, he was developing in Java as well.
Daniel emphasizes that the early learning process was playful. "What was really cool was that my mother framed it as a game. That's how she taught us how to code," Daniel explains. Between ages 12 and 13, he began studying robotics with the initial goal of launching a company in the industry.
From career transition to ChatGPT
In 2020, at the onset of the pandemic, Daniel was working in marketing for a stool and chair importer focused on marketplace sales. Following the shutdown of his family's cruise business and his departure from the furniture company, he teamed up with his sister to launch a digital services business specializing in website development, web design, and social media management.
The definitive pivot toward AI came in late 2022 with the release of OpenAI's flagship tool. "Then, in November 2022, ChatGPT came out. I was one of the first people in the world to use ChatGPT. I said, 'Man, this thing is going to revolutionize the world. This is going to change everything,'" Daniel explains. He notes that tracking global markets in English allowed him to spot the trend before it gained widespread traction in Brazil.
