AI Should Handle Operations and Free Humans to Think

Felina's Andreia Abud analyzes the limits of backward-looking algorithms and champions human creativity.

In a conversation on Marketing - The Podcast, Andreia Abud explains how proprietary technology and AI reduce operational bottlenecks across agency workflows. Abud argues that true competitive advantage remains rooted in strategic human thinking.

Andreia Abud, CMDO at Felina, joined Bruno Gimenes on Marketing - The Podcast to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on daily advertising agency routines and the lasting value of human thinking in business. The excerpt is part of a broader discussion on the show about media strategies and the B2B market.

Examining the structure of traditional agencies, Abud pointed out that digital expansion ultimately created a buildup of operational demands. "We've had the same advertising model for 70 years, right? We thought digital would make things lighter, but it brought more operational work, the need for more people, and the need for more eyes monitoring, optimizing, and executing," she stated. In her view, traditional structures struggle to redesign their internal processes.

Technology as an operational foundation

To bypass this overload, Felina was built by its five partners around a proprietary system that integrates AI tools into a single workflow, connecting the media, planning, and creative disciplines. The model aims to organize data and reduce daily internal friction.

Abud explained that technology serves as behind-the-scenes support: "It has AI plugged in and handles operational challenges. But it's just the foundation, the engine room of our agency, right? The difference is that we were born this way, so it's easier when you start like this, right? You already share that culture with the team. It is integrated, so it connects process steps as well as disciplines—media, planning, creative—we're all on the same track, and most importantly, it frees humans to think."

Human oversight and future vision

Despite the speed of automated information processing, Abud emphasized that the entire workflow relies on ongoing human validation. Relying on automation without critical thinking leads to generic, cookie-cutter deliverables across the market.

According to Abud, computational models operate exclusively on historical data, which makes human intervention essential for generating real innovation. "AI looks at the past. We are all looking in the same direction. We need humans to create, to be disruptive, and to look to the future, because otherwise we'll all end up in the exact same place with the exact same solutions," she noted.

In the video above, Abud details how an integrated workflow brings agency teams closer to strategic decisions and clients' core business needs.
