The Unexpected Female Challenge
Kelly Gusmão surprises by demystifying common perceptions. She reveals that, in her experience, the greatest prejudice and the biggest difficulties she faced didn't come from men, but from other women who shared the same space. At a predominantly male trading desk, two female colleagues made her professional life a living hell.
The Absence of Sisterhood in a Competitive World
These colleagues not only competed intensely with Kelly but also went so far as to bet amongst themselves on the day she would resign. Kelly Gusmão emphasizes that, at that time and in that environment, "the word sisterhood didn't exist." This statement underscores the lack of mutual support and the harmful rivalry that can sometimes emerge among women, especially in high-pressure sectors with low female representation.
Kelly Gusmão's experience reminds us of the importance of sisterhood and female support in all spheres. Donas da Voz celebrates building a community where women inspire, empower, and overcome challenges together, transforming the professional landscape into a more welcoming and fair place for everyone.
