Flamengo Sets Deadline to Finalize Lorran Exit

Midfielder returns from loan at Pisa and is out of Flamengo's plans for the rest of the season.

Flamengo has set a Friday deadline to resolve the future of midfielder Lorran. Out of the coaching staff's plans, the player is seeking a new destination after a loan spell in Italian soccer.

Flamengo has established this coming Friday as the deadline to resolve the situation of midfielder Lorran, according to reporter Pablo Ruu. A product of the club's youth academy, the player recently returned from a loan spell at Italy's Pisa and is not in the board's plans for the remainder of the season.

In Bernardo Ramos' analysis featured in the video above, Lorran possesses technical quality and physical strength, but suffers from a lack of focus and intensity during matches. According to Bernardo, the midfielder failed to deliver the performance required to compete for squad spots alongside players such as Arrascaeta and Lucas Paquetá, making a permanent transfer the most logical outcome for all parties involved.

Performance in Italy and squad status

During his time at Pisa, Lorran was part of the squad that ended up relegated to the Italian second division. Manager Alberto Gilardino even highlighted the player's lack of ambition and competitiveness. Because the Italian club chose not to trigger its purchase option, Lorran returned to Rio de Janeiro and will train separately at Ninho do Urubu if he cannot find a new club by the deadline.

The routine of sidelining surplus players does not sit well with Bernardo, who drew comparisons to center-back Pablo—signed under Paulo Sousa after a spell at Bordeaux, rarely utilized by Filipe Luís, and eventually released after a stint with São Bernardo. For the commentator, Flamengo's academy is in a transitional phase where developing and promoting viable first-team players should take priority over youth trophies, such as recent U-20 Copa Libertadores and Intercontinental Cup titles against Barcelona.

Financial goals and transfer market moves

In its financial planning for the season, Flamengo has already completed the sale of left winger Ryan Roberto for €10 million, pocketing €7 million from the deal. Other confirmed departures include forward Juninho to Pumas for $5 million—recouping the invested fee—, center-back Iago's exit, and Victor Hugo's move to Atlético Mineiro, featuring a sell-on fee to Santos. The club seeks to maintain cash flow after reaching R$ 2.08 billion in revenue the previous year, bolstered by sales of Wesley and Gerson, the latter represented by Marcão and currently playing for Cruzeiro.
