Flamengo Set to Sell Lorran to UAE Club
The transfer brings the Brazilian club closer to its R$ 256 million sales target during crucial Libertadores and league fixtures.
Flamengo is finalizing the transfer of midfielder Lorran to a club in the United Arab Emirates. The move helps the club progress toward its annual transfer sales budget during a decisive run in both the Brasileirão and Copa Libertadores.
Flamengo is finalizing the transfer of midfielder Lorran to the United Arab Emirates. Initially reported by the Fla-Zoeiro channel via journalist Guilherme, the move signals a permanent departure for the academy graduate from the Rio de Janeiro club. With the primary European transfer windows closed, alternative markets emerged as the viable route to conclude the deal.
According to commentator Bernardo Ramos, the move is a very positive deal for club management. The player, who spent time on loan in Italy with Pisa—where the club was relegated and his attitude was criticized by then-manager Alberto Gilardino—earned first-team chances following the U-20 World Cup but could not establish himself. His sale helps Flamengo move toward its ambitious R$ 256 million player-sale revenue target for the year.
Gonzalo Plata situation and squad reinforcements
The push to fulfill projected transfer revenue follows the collapse of Gonzalo Plata's proposed €12 million move to Dynamo Moscow. Due to obstacles created by the Russian club, the Ecuadorian winger stayed in the squad and started against Corinthians. Flamengo is currently evaluating taking legal action through FIFA against the Moscow outfit.
Before Plata's transfer fell through, Flamengo had already added forwards Joaquim Freitas and Antony Valencia to the first-team squad. Both players have made their club debuts, with Freitas notably involved in the build-up to the decisive goal against Corinthians.
Libertadores showdown and Brasileirão title race
On the pitch, the team is entering a crucial stretch of the season. In the Copa Libertadores, the Rio giants host Independiente del Valle at the Maracanã defending a 2–0 aggregate lead from the first leg played at altitude in Quito. In the Campeonato Brasileiro, the club maintains a one-point lead over Palmeiras at the top of the table.
Flamengo's next domestic league match will be against Red Bull Bragantino before the competition pauses for the FIFA international window. Two Flamengo players were called up to the Brazilian national team for upcoming friendlies: Samuel Lino and Pedro.
