Flamengo Sells Wallace Yan and Plata, Hits Revenue Goal
With departures to Red Bull Bragantino and Dynamo Moscow, the club brings in €18 million and searches for replacements.
Flamengo has finalized the sales of Wallace Yan and Gonzalo Plata, raising €18 million and hitting its transfer revenue target. Bernardo Ramos details the financial impact and the upcoming deadlines to reinforce the squad.
Flamengo has agreed to the sales of Wallace Yan to Red Bull Bragantino and Gonzalo Plata to Dynamo Moscow. The two deals total 18 million euros and allow the club to reach its player sales revenue target for the season, set at 256 million reais.
In the video above, Bernardo Ramos explains the impact of the negotiations on the club's finances and football planning. According to reporting by Igor Siqueira, the club still has 312 million reais to pay before the end of the year in installments for previous signings, such as Carrascal, Samuel Lino, and Emerson Royal. As a result, meeting the budget target is essential to maintain financial responsibility under director José Boto.
Details of Wallace Yan and Plata's transfers
Wallace Yan's transfer involves 70% of his economic rights sold for 6 million euros to Red Bull Bragantino, in addition to the inclusion of an academy player, according to reporting by Paparazzo Rubro-Negro. Meanwhile, Gonzalo Plata's departure to Russian football was finalized at 12 million euros. The Ecuadorian, signed for around 9 million dollars from Qatari football, is already out of the derby against Botafogo this Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
According to Bernardo, Wallace Yan received plenty of opportunities but failed to establish himself, despite scoring in the 3-1 victory over Chelsea at the FIFA Club World Cup. In Gonzalo Plata's case, Bernardo believes his departure represents a significant tactical loss due to his pressing intensity on opponent build-up play and his depth along the right wing, even though the forward lacked finishing efficiency.
Search for replacements and key deadlines
With no room for heavy spending—ruling out names like Luiz Henrique, according to reporter Rodrigo Matos—Flamengo is expected to turn to a target identified by its scouting department. Football director José Boto faces a tight schedule: the deadline for squad changes in the Copa Libertadores ends on September 4, and the transfer window shuts on September 11.
The need for a replacement becomes urgent ahead of the clash against Independiente del Valle in the Libertadores quarterfinals. The first leg is scheduled for the Atahualpa Stadium in Quito, at an altitude of 2,850 meters, against an opponent riding a 16-match winning streak.
