Setting New Year Life Goals: Understanding Fear and True Overcoming
Learn to set clear goals and distinguish between fears for genuine life growth.
Start the New Year by setting clear life goals and identifying Critical Actions for genuine change. Dr. Ddnard emphasizes the importance of distinguishing between fears to overcome those that hold us back and preserve those that protect our lives.
As the New Year begins, Dr. Ddnard Napattalung, also known as Kru Oy, shared the importance of setting life's compass, or defining goals, to give life a clear direction. Setting goals, no matter how small, is better than having no goals at all, as it provides us with genuine direction and meaning in life.
Setting Life's Compass and Critical Actions for a Better Year
Setting yearly goals is crucial for providing direction in life. Kru Oy praised those who consider Critical Actions, highly influential actions that lead to significant life changes. Performing valuable and beneficial actions, such as writing a book to share knowledge, elevates one's life and benefits others. Furthermore, deciding to let go of old stories that no longer serve a purpose is also a significant Critical Action. Having a clear plan gives life meaning and helps us reflect on what we've overcome in the past year.
Understanding Fear: Overcome What Holds You Back, Preserve What Protects You
Dr. Ddnard stressed the importance of overcoming fear appropriately. Overcoming fear should be in a direction that benefits your life, not an act that is frivolous or harmful. For example, fear that leads to physical injury is not a fear to be overcome, because fear naturally serves to protect us from various dangers we should avoid.
However, there are certain types of fear known as False Fear, which are fears we shouldn't have and ought to overcome, such as:
- Fear of being judged by others
- Fear of not daring to act on new things
- Fear of failure or not succeeding
- Fear of not being good enough
These fears are what should be managed and overcome to enable us to develop and grow to our full potential. But for fears related to danger to life or things detrimental to life, we should preserve those fears to protect ourselves.
Starting the New Year with careful goal setting, choosing Critical Actions that will lead to positive change, and distinguishing between fears that should be overcome and fears that should be preserved will help you lead a meaningful life and grow stronger throughout the year.
