3 Foundations for Success

Dr. Ddnard summarized 3 fundamental principles for sustainable success, which are at the heart of the 'Life Compass' classroom:

  1. Gratitude towards benefactors: Whether parents, teachers, friends, or those who have helped us – good people around us – we must remember and appreciate their kindness.
  2. Think good, speak good, do good: Keep your mind in a positive zone at all times. Do not harbor ill thoughts, gossip, or criticize others, because criticism allows negative feelings to enter the mind and reduces our energy.
  3. Set your own goals and commit to achieving them: If we have no goals in life, or set goals to undermine others, it is difficult for life to flourish.

Dr. Ddnard compared these principles to weight loss. If we do not follow the coach's advice but instead do the opposite, we will never see good results. We are the ones who must apply this knowledge and create results.

The Power of the Mind: Avoiding Indecision and Negative Thinking

The human mind often forgets easily. Dr. Ddnard emphasized that we should regularly "count our blessings" in life, such as things we have achieved, the happiness received, or those who have helped us. Doing this helps prevent the mind from easily forgetting and wavering.

Tom added that there are two significant obstacles that prevent people from reaching their goals:

  • Indecision: Not having firm conviction in a goal causes us to miss important opportunities, even when success is just one step away.
  • Negative Thoughts: Allowing negative thoughts to interfere reduces our mental energy, leading to a cascade of problems. "Lifting up" the mind by counting blessings and being grateful helps transform negative thoughts into positive ones.

Setting Powerful and Clear Goals

The 'Life Compass' classroom teaches a distinctive and practical approach to goal-setting. Tom gave an example that goals must have "Ecology", meaning they must align with the environment and context of one's life, as well as be "Specific", meaning precise and clearly envisioned. Dr. Ddnard added that good goals should benefit others and truly align with our purpose for existence.

Dr. Ddnard also mentioned the "Magnifying Glass Law", a crucial principle for focus: center your mental force upon a specific thought, hold steadfastly without allowing other negative thoughts to interfere, and manifest it with power concentration.

Furthermore, there is encouragement to "set big goals" because doing something small or big requires the same effort, but big goals are more enjoyable, and what we fear is precisely what we should set as a goal.

Overcoming Obstacles and Growth

The Hand of God

Dr. Ddnard and his students explained the concept of the "Hand of God", which refers to viewing misfortunes or unexpected changes in life as the universe or God always offering opportunities or leading us to better situations, even if we don't understand it at first. Montri recounted his experience of being laid off from an international company, which at the time felt terrible, but it paved the way for him to build his own successful business, "Fruit Arrangement".

Courage and Inner Peace

Courage in compassion, wishing well, and choosing to do only good things, as well as accepting the worst situations, will help us overcome fear. Having inner peace is extremely important, because without peace, the mind will be confused and unable to see a clear path.

Discipline and Self-Refinement

Discipline is a driving force that helps us focus better, and Nat emphasized self-refinement: no matter how much we learn, if we don't apply and refine ourselves, it won't be beneficial.

The 'Life Compass' classroom also fosters a supportive community. Everyone is ready to help and share knowledge, whether about work, personal life, or family, just as the Buddha showed the way, but we must all walk it ourselves.

Dr. Ddnard concluded that our duty is to "actually apply" this knowledge and "regularly self-assess", using the "Flower of Success" and "Flowchart" as tools to find the right path. Finally, it is to "love your enemies" to create joy in your heart and increase your self-worth.

If you are looking for a path to sustainable success, both in life and business, the principles from Dr. Ddnard and the 'Life Compass' classroom serve as a guiding light, ready to empower and bring you happiness.
