Choosing the Path of Freedom: How to Release Suffering
Dr. Ddnard explores why external change does not cause our pain and how mindful awareness restores inner peace.
External changes do not create our suffering; our mind's attachment and resistance do. Learn how bringing gentle awareness to the present moment allows you to choose inner freedom and let go of distress.
Everything in this world is in a constant state of transition. Circumstances shift, moments pass, and nothing remains entirely static. Yet changes in themselves do not cause the suffering we feel. Rather, it is the reaction of our own mind that creates emotional distress.
Understanding the Root of Suffering
Suffering arises the moment we forget to be aware of what our mind is doing in the present moment. When we lose this gentle self-awareness, we begin to cling to transient things, telling ourselves, “This is mine,” or “This is a part of me.” We fixate on rigid expectations, insisting that people, events, and feelings must remain exactly as we want them to be.
Returning to the Present Moment
True mental strength and peace come from recognising these mental habits without self-judgment. When you observe your thoughts with clarity and see impermanence for what it is, you no longer need to demand that the world conform to your desires. By returning your attention to the present moment, you choose the path of genuine inner freedom.
